President Emeritus Message
In February 2024, I advised the Board of my intention to step back as President of CPKN. This prompted a nation-wide search for a new President. We were clear that a firefighter or a caretaker was not who we were seeking. Instead, we needed an experienced, visionary leader who was able to take advantage of the great foundation that already existed at CPKN and then take the Network to new levels.
After a rigorous search that attracted over 180 applicants, Sonia Poulin was chosen as the successful candidate. She ticked all the boxes and then some. Sonia is well equipped to execute on the mandate given to her by the Board.
On November 18, Sonia officially became the third President of CPKN. During the next few months, myself, Krystine and the staff will provide support for her transition. In addition, Sonia will be travelling to meet stakeholders from coast to coast – she has already shown herself to be a quick study, and I have no doubt the transition period will be short.
Please join me in wishing her the best in this important role.
It’s been an honour and a privilege to be part of CPKN and the Canadian police community for the last 20 years. I am proud of what we collectively have built together.
I will be staying on as President Emeritus to provide support, which will be required less and less as time goes on. I am certain there are great things in store for the future of the Network.
