Postal Inspector - Security & Investigation Services

From time to time, police officers may be required to investigate postal-related crimes, including theft from mail or e-commerce and online fraud. In these cases, Postal Inspectors from Canada Post’s Security and Investigation Services may assist and support these investigations.
Developed by Canada Post, Postal Inspector - Security & Investigation Services is designed to inform police officers how Postal Inspectors may assist in addressing mail-related crimes. In addition to providing an overview of the role and authority of Postal Inspectors and Security and Investigation Services, this course will explore emerging postal crime trends and the investigative supports available from Canada Post. It will also describe a case study that illustrates how efficient joint investigations between postal inspectors and law enforcement can help achieve crime reduction goals and protect public safety.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the roles, responsibilities, and authorities of a Postal Inspector and Security and Investigation Services;
- Understand the law as it relates to the offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Canada Post Corporation Act;
- Recall emerging postal-related crimes and their impact on public safety.
This course is designed for all Canadian police and law enforcement members. This course contains law enforcement sensitive information and is not for public dissemination.
