MPUR: Unidentified Remains Level One Investigator

MPUR: Unidentified Remains Level One Investigator

While relatively rare, occurrences of unidentified remains can result in different and changing roles for police. Unidentified remains investigations require cooperation between police and the office of the coroner/medical examiner. Should an unidentified remains occurrence also involve a criminal offence, the two investigative mandates operate in conjunction with each other.

The MPUR: Unidentified Remains Level One Investigator course will enhance learners' knowledge about unidentified remains investigations. It will explore the life cycle of an unidentified remains investigation and the respective roles of the police agency/investigator and coroner/medical examiner. It also provides information on the role of the National Center for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (NCMPUR) and the services provided to support investigators.
