MPUR: Missing Adults Level One Investigator

MPUR: Missing Adults Level One Investigator

Every year, there are over 100,000 reports of missing persons in Canada. While the majority of these reports involve children, at any given time there are more unresolved missing adult cases than those involving minors. Every missing adult case is different and investigators must use a variety of strategies and resources during the course of investigations. The National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (NCMPUR) provides analytic tools and services to assist police with their investigations.

MPUR: Missing Adults Level One Investigator uses a simulated investigation to take learners through the life cycle of a missing adult investigation. At each stage of the investigation, this course explores the roles of the investigator/police agency and the various NCMPUR services and tools that are available to assist the investigation. In addition to reviewing the best practices for an initial response to a missing adult report, it addresses issues of jurisdiction, information gathering, search planning, and escalation factors.
