Intox EC/IR II – Proficiency Examination (NL, NS, NB, BC, YT)
- Course Category:
All Qualified Breath Test Technicians (QT) must renew their certification for the operation of the Intox EC/IR II on an annual basis. To do this, QTs must successfully complete the Intox EC/IR II Proficiency Examination. This exam is offered online via the Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) as well as service-specific e-Learning Portals hosted on the CPKN Learning Management System.
Please note there is a mandatory 15 minute video preceding the exam. The exam itself is comprised of 40 questions and requires a minimum passing grade of 80%. Candidates are provided with two attempts to pass the exam; if a candidate fails to achieve a passing grade on the second attempt, they will be required to take the classroom training again before being allowed to re-take the exam.
How to Register: Information for QT Coordinators/Breath Test Supervisors
QTs must be registered to this exam by their service's QT Coordinator or Breath Test Supervisor.
To register a service's QTs for the Intox EC/IR II Proficiency Examination, the QT Coordinator/BT Supervisor must complete a registration form: www.cpkn.ca/sites/default/files/cpkn_intox_ec_ir_II_exam_reg_group_e.xls.
Once registered, you will be provided with an e-learning account (CPKN provides a username and password via email). QTs will also receive an annual automated notice that their certification expiration date is approaching. Instructions for logging into the exam will be provided at that time.
